UC Davis and plaintiffs Kelsey Brust, Jessica Bulala and Lauraz Ludwig settled the lawsuit that was file d twoyears ago, and was certified as a classe action in October. The settlement establishes a set of standardw for female participation rates in varsity sportes at UC Davis and provides additional financial supporyt for club sports atthe university, a news releasde said. The settlement must be approved bythe U.S. District Court in Sacramento after members of the class have been notified of thespecifivc terms. Brust and Bulala playedd club field hockey. The settlement creates a 10-yeadr plan for UC Davis to reach specific proportions of male and female athletes bythe 2019-29 school year. The universityg will either add women’s intercollegiate teams or will take other stepw to ensure equal accommodation of student interestt invarsity sports. UC Davis has also agreed to contribute $110,000 to a fund for the developmentt ofclub sports. The case was scheduled to go to triain October.
