According to the multi-states enforcement action, customers complained that DISH Networkm disclaimed responsibility for the conducyt ofits third-party retailers and advertised rebates without disclosing limitationes on rebate offers; represented that equipmen t was new when, in fact, it was used or and electronically debited customers’ bank accounts and credit cards withoutg their authorization. The agreement specifies that DISH Networik deniesany wrongdoing. DISH Network, the nation’w No. 2 provider of direct broadcast satellitetelevisiojn service, agreed to numerous correctivde actions to remedy the conduct investigated by the states.
Foremosy among these, the company’s advertisinfg must clearly outline the following to itsprospective • Whether penalties apply and if so, the penalty amount in the event a customer cancels service; All fees and cost of including additional charges if the customer request more than one satellite receiver; • All limitationsd on available customer rebates.
